Plenum cable (designated as "CMP" when properly certified) is made with special low-smoke/fire retardant materials so that they can safely be used in the air-flow areas of a building (called plenum spaces). Avoid purchasing cheap plenum cable from a source that isn't certified (UL certification is most common). For more information on Sewell's Plenum cable (UL CMP number e353635)
