Repair of a dead remote control for a TV. It is easy to check if an Infra Red remote control is working by pointing it at a digital camera or phone camera. When a button is pressed the IR LED will be seen to flash on the camera.First check the battery compartment for any signs of corrosion, many times batteries are left in far too long and especially the cheap brands will leak. Check the manufacturing date of the batteries, when purchased a battery should show a date at least 2 years ahead. Often an old blunt knife blade is useful to disassemble the remote. Examine the internals for any signs of spilled liquids. Check also for physical damage due to being dropped or sat on! The Infra Red LED at the front is prone to being damaged by rough handling, check the solder joints for cracks. Leakage from Alkaline batteries may be cleaned up by using white vinegar and an old toothbrush. Clean the buttons and front plate with washing up liquid and warm water. Clean the carbon button parts and the carbon traces on the circuit board with Isopropanol (IPA). Reassemble and test! Click Here to Subscribe [ Ссылка ]
