West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that she will be boycotting the opposition meeting convened by Congress president Sonia Gandhi on January 13 against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the proposed NRC. Her decision comes in the wake of violence unleashed in West Bengal allegedly by Left Front and Congress workers during a trade union strike. She also alleged the Left and the Congress of playing ‘dirty’ politics on the issue.
