I wanted to pass on my old, rusty cast iron bar bells to my son but didn't want to sand blast or use a rust remover to clean them up. After googling around, I discovered there is a class of products called rust converters than convert iron oxide into magnetite using tannic acid.
I ended up buying a gallon of a product called Corroseal from Amazon as it had many, many 5 star reviews. Additionally, I saw several videos on YouTube where people were testing it out, but I felt like they skipped a lot of steps in regards to applying the product and they didn't really show a lot of the intermediate chemical changes. My family and I decided to make this video documenting our process and results with Corroseal, and we attempted not to skip any steps in the hopes that it will eliminate some of the guesswork for other folks.
If you decide Corroseal will work for you like it did us, you can get a gallon of using my Amazon affiliate link ([ Ссылка ]) or it is sold at most major hardware stores.
In the interest of full disclosure, I paid this product with my own funds and no one reviewed or approved this content before it was posted.
