On June 5, 2019, I delivered a Statement about the concluding report of the National Inquiry on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, including the report's finding of fact that Canada committed a deliberate genocide against Indigenous peoples, and what we must do to show that we have actually heard the family members and survivors. If we have truly listened then we will follow the way forward that they have pointed to, acknowledge their expertise, and promptly implement each of the Inquiry's recommendations with full funding.
