2025 Ford Ranger Raptor - The Ford Ranger, with its high-quality cabin, comfortable ride and helpful driver assist features, smooths out many of the rough edges of traditional truck ownership. Impressively, it does so without compromising on towing or payload capability either. It's a great pick for a midsize truck.
The Ford Ranger is a pickup truck icon, even if it stands in the shadow of its larger sibling, the venerable F-150. The Ranger was redesigned for 2025, with an all-new design inside and out, loads of available tech, and available turbocharged V6 engines that enhance the Ranger's capabilities. Given the extensive changes for 2024, we don't expect Ford to make any significant changes to the 2025 Ranger.
Ford introduced its Raptor off-road treatment with the 2010 F-150, offering a more powerful engine, beefy off-road tires, wider bodywork and a reworked suspension. For the 2025 Ranger Raptor, it gets a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 making 405 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. It also has standard four-wheel drive, Fox shocks, a two-speed transfer case, front and rear locking differentials, and 33-inch tires. Few trucks on the road give us thrills quite like Ford's Raptor models.
The midsize truck segment has roared back to life over the past few years, thanks in part to the Ranger's reintroduction to America after a few years on ice. But the fifth-gen Ranger has some of the toughest competition it's ever had to deal with. Some of Edmunds' favorites include the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon twins, the Nissan Frontier, the Jeep Gladiator and the Toyota Tacoma, the long-running king of the midsize pickup segment.
