Krishnanagar city in Nadia district has historic value. Krishnagar, the district headquarter of Nadia in West Bengal, is famous for the Jagaddhatri Puja festival, apart from Sarpuria and Sarbhaja, famous sweets, and world-honored clay modeling. It is said that in the year 1763 Raja (King) Krishna Chandra Ray started worshipping goddess Jagaddhatri in Krishnanagar for the first time in his own Royal Palace (Rajbari). This city is near Bardhaman or Burdwan.
