In this video, I examine a mountain lion scat that was deposited two days prior. I caught a family of three cougars on the trail camera. One of them is seen at the end of the video depositing this scat (just off camera to the left. You can see the scat falling on the debris.) This location has an old log that is rotting into the soil. That substrate holds scent very well and the pumas seem to be using it frequently for scent marking, as do other species. This trail is used by bears and many other species, as you will see by the find I make near the beginning. Hope you enjoy learning how to identify mountain lion scat, as well as a bit about how logs serve a purpose in the forest.
