The return of the popular Torbay Express for 2008 was hauled by SR Battle of Britain class 34067 Tangmere from Bristol Temple Meads to Kingswear and return.
For the first time since 2003 the Torbay Express had 9 coaches all raked in full livery, choclate and cream livery which would give an authentic look if the service is to be hauled by a Castle or King class loco.
All goes well for 34067 to Paignton, however it got banked up by the P&D's Class 25 diesel as they didnt want any repeats to last years slip up!
The engine gets turned, serviced and watered up for its return trip. The Bullied pacific screams through Dawlish in repeat to what it mighta done if the route to Plymouth via Okehampton and Tavistock was to closed due to engineering works nearly 50 years ago.
At its former home in Exeter St Davids the loco has trouble trying to leave as the valve gear in the loco got stuck 'dead centre' hence its why the driver reverses slightly to get her to move forward. As it manages to pull its stock outa the station, but then it makes two slip ups that erupt the station!!
Note to JBTEvans: The P&D ran a single service for the day hauled by 5239, I didnt film it as 34067 was a more important subject, plus P&D shots woulda been too long to add in this film.
