I'm so excited to introduce a new segment, "Ryan's Trumpet: Live!"
30 years ago (yes, 1993) I started trying to play jazz in rural southeast Idaho, with the encouraging support of my parents and band director, Mr. Dan North (go Bobcats!), alongside my brother (justinnielsenmusic.com) and a cast of unforgettable friends (with whom I still have the pleasure of hanging out from time to time).
Since then, I've dreamt of recording a solo album with musicians whose leadership in the jazz world inspires me. I feel so grateful to have collaborated with this dream-team of musicians on today's performance:
Bobby Broom, guitar. [ Ссылка ]
Christian Dillingham, bass. [ Ссылка ]
Kobie Watkins, drums. [ Ссылка ]
Since I first heard it, I loved Cole Porter's "What Is This Thing Called Love." Every time I'm at a jazz session, and someone asks me what I'd like to play, my mind blanks, and then I call this tune.
When I found out I would get to record with these musicians, I immersed myself in Bobby's music, and this arrangement surfaced.
This whole project started on a STRONG intuition to do something creative that really challenged me. It was darn-near-miraculous that it all worked out! I absolutely loved it, and hope that you do to :-)
