Spain has begun its Easter weekend celebrations by holding a series of elaborate religious processions all over the country.
Centuries old traditions and history are re-enacted, displayed and ultimately celebrated by the region's local populations.
As a result, Semana Santa - or Holy Week - in Spain attracts thousands of visitors eager to watch the pageantry and spectacle of the event.
Over a dozen cities and towns in Spain stage their annual processions celebrating the death and resurrection of Christ during Holy Week.
