Liverpool James Street station is an underground station on the loop line under Liverpool City Centre. James Street, along with neighbouring Birkenhead Hamilton Square are the World's two oldest deep level underground stations opened in 1886.
In the video, trains are seen at platform 2. Closed since 1977 this platform has remained in very original condition and is only used occasionally. At the moment it is being used due to new tracks being installed on the loop line. The platform contains various artwork as seen in the video.
Also included in the video is the "rat hole", a long tunnel walkway leading up to Water Street. This has recently been renovated but still retains it's original tiled walls and flagged floor. Today, it is lined with reproduction period railway posters.
