On May 7, 2023, the A45 viaduct Rahmede near Lüdenscheid was blown up. The blasting was particularly tricky because there were buildings in the immediate vicinity of the bridge. Walls made of containers and scaffolding were built as protection. The bridge had been closed since December 2, 2021 due to the risk of collapse.

Investments of 672 million euros are planned for 2023 to expand and maintain the motorways, including the A45 with its numerous bridges.
