I ran this El Camino through Mecum Auction and took a chance at no reserve hoping to get a bidding war going. Totally lost my A$$ in this build. Was $13,500 into it.....only sold for $9500!
Last no reserve auction I do! Definitely worth the extra fee to reserve it. As the old saying goes "no risk no reward" but a risk does not always guarantee a reward. Lesson learned, onto the next.
Car details:
1972 El Camino
350 V8 engine lightly modified with an Edelbrock Carb
17" Hurst Dazzler Wheels with brand new Raptor tires
new interior
new paint
front end suspension rebuild
tons of new trim pieces
This car should have brought at the bare minumum $13k!
Two cars before this a 69 El Camino rolled through that was horrible...but body work and an average build at best. It brought $28k! I'm still perplexed it brought so little. You can tell the auctioneer couldn't understand it either.
