This is the 3d of video series where we explore together the fascinating world of fine Crémant de Bourgogne sparkling wines. First we looked at the different grapes that are used to make them, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir leading of course how each of them impacts on the expression of the wines. Then we looked at how different vintages with their own climatic conditions can result in varied qualities and personalities in the wines. And today we look at what’s probably the most exciting part for me, the Terroir. Because that’s the ultimate expression of a place. So we’re going to be tasting 4 different sparklings from Burgundy, from a very reputable producer that I like which is called Louis Bouillot, with wines made either from 100% Chardonnay or 100% Pinot Noir, so that in itself should be interesting, plus some of those are made from Chablis-like terroir, with Chardonnay obviously, another with grapes from Gevrey-Chambertin, Pinot Noir of course. So I can’t wait to dig in what these wines are like.
Shout out to Madeline Puckette of Wine Folly (Essential Guide to Wine Book author), and Gary Vaynerchuk of Wine Library TV (wineliberarytv) for having inspired me to start making wine education and tasting videos on YouTube.
