More anti-government protests in Moldova. At least 10,000 people took to the streets, angry over claims of mass corruption and a lack of reforms. This footage is from the main square in the capital Chisinau, courtesy of JurnalTV. In recent weeks, both pro-EU and pro-Russian groups have demanded early presidental and parliamentary elections. The suspected corruption has been dubbed locally as the 'fraud of the century'. Some USD 1 billion has disappeared from the banking system in the ex-Soviet nation. That's roughly one eighth of its entire GDP. The scandal has fuelled inflation, dragged down the currency and lowered living standards.
