This video articulates the gist of the following: Diphenhydramine (also known as DPH, Dimedrol, Benadryl, and many others) is a deliriant substance of the ethanolamine class. It is a first-generation H1 antihistamine that is widely used as a generic, over-the-counter medication to treat allergies. When exceeding approved doses, diphenhydramine produces powerful deliriant effects. Diphenhydramine was first synthesized in 1943. In 1946, it became the first prescription antihistamine approved by the U.S. FDA. It was approved for over-the-counter use in the 1980s.[1] Today, it is typically used to treat allergies, but it may also be used for a number of conditions including itchiness, insomnia, motion sickness, nausea and the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergy, hay fever, and the common cold. These symptoms include rash, itching, watery eyes, itchy eyes/nose/throat, cough, runny nose, and sneezing. It is also used to prevent and treat nausea, vomiting and dizziness caused by motion sickness. Teenagers are no strangers to taking on challenges. However, there is a new challenge that’s sweeping across social media networks, and has the potential to be deadly. The “Benadryl Challenge” has been made popular on TikTok, urging viewers to take large doses – in some cases as much as 10 times the normal dose.
