It doesn't stop raining even in Switzerland sunniest region, the Valley of Maggia in Ticino. It has never rained so heavily here for almost 100 years. Even if the River Maggia looks calm even at flood, there were 3 fatal bathing accidents in the Maggia and in the delta of the Maggia during the days of this shooting. We where in Gordevio on the TCS Camping.

Due to the repeatedly announced rain we left the evening before after most tent campers had already left the day before, the water ran right through their tent - it was the right decision, the next day the dam which protects our campsite was closed by the police and in the evening the evacuation was prepared. The situation eased thereafter for a few days for now in the 3rd wave came the worst rainfall since 1918 - under the water masses even roofs collapsed!
