I am the recruitment manager at Slater and Gordon. An average day never stops. It’s all hands on deck talking to candidates, talking to managers, talking to recruitment agencies. I always thought law firms would be stuffy and boring and I’ve been for interviews before with law firms and as soon as I’ve walked in I’ve thought, ‘I do not fit in here at all.’

And from the minute I walked into Slater and Gordon I was made to feel welcome, it’s very relaxed, it’s very down to Earth. The support that you have in-house is absolutely fabulous. It’s the opportunity to make a difference. There’s no bureaucracy; if you have an idea you can run with it.

I’m doing the job that I’ve always done in terms of being a recruitment manager, but here I’m doing it differently because I’m actually making a difference.

Offering someone a job is the best feeling in the world because what we do actually changes people’s lives. And so when you ring someone up and tell them they’ve actually got that job it really means something because to them it is their future, it’s their career and when you see someone come and join the company at a lower level and work their way through and become promoted it’s the best feeling in the world to watch that individual progress.

We’re on a journey of growth and we are recruiting all of the time. We recruit all across the country for roles in all different sectors of law, from both fee-earning roles to non-fee-earning roles as well as support positions.
