This patient had a cherry angioma in her scalp that would get caught and bleed when she brushed her hair. She desired a quick and easy removal with minimal downtime.
What are Cherry Angiomas?
Cherry angiomas are benign growths of blood vessels that happen as we age. If bothersome, they can be treated with electrosurgery.
In this video, you see the before and after results for this patient with a cherry angioma. For this procedure, we use a laser or electrosurgical device to target the cherry angioma selectively. Before the procedure, the cherry angioma is cleaned and local anesthesia is used to numb the area. The laser or electrosurgical device is used to treat the cherry angioma. The spot will heal in 1-2 weeks, and you should apply petroleum ointment daily for 1 week as the area heals. Most patients only require 1 treatment, though some require a second treatment 4-6 weeks after the first treatment.
