President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said the United States has never requested for possible deployment of Philippine troops if war ensues between the US and China over Taiwan.

The president reiterated that the purpose of EDCA sites is to facilitate the country’s disaster response.

Meanwhile, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said China is opposed to any alliances aimed at meddling in territorial disputes.

President Marcos Jr. said China’s statement was directed more toward the United States than the Philippines.
