A wildfire which has been raging on the Greek island of Rhodes for five days forced hundreds of people to flee affected villages and beaches on Saturday (July 22), authorities said.
Video posted to social media showed people lining up for buses to escape the thick smoke in the air.
In one short clip lines of people are seen walking in the village of Kiotari as smoke fills the sky. The other footage showed buses arriving in Pefkos, to take people to Rhodes town.
Civil protection authorities have warned of a very high risk of wildfires on Rhodes and many other areas in Greece on Sunday, as temperatures were expected to hit 45 Celsius (113 Fahrenheit) amid a heatwave.
