At around 6:30pm 20/04/2024 six fire engines from across Barnsley and surrounding areas and a high volume pump and hose layer from Tankersley Fire Station rushed to the the scene of a fire at a waste recycling site on Grange Lane, Barnsley.

Once in attendance crews found a large amount of household waste on fire and remained in attendance at the incident for the majority of the night.

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service hazardous area response team and West Yorkshire Police units also attended the incident.
