Victorian Opposition leader Michael O’Brien says “heads must roll” over the Andrews government’s botched hotel quarantine program, as Melbourne heads back into full lockdown.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has re-enforced Stage Three lockdowns of more than five million Victorians in the entire Melbourne Metropolitan area and the Mitchell Shire.
Mr Andrews confirmed there are 477 cases of community transmission, 932 active cases of COVID-19 across the state, with many of the recent cases being traced back to the hotel quarantine facilities.
“The government has tried to push this to one side, by saying they’ll have an inquiry into this, they’ll report in a few months times; I think we need answers now," Mr O'Brien said.
The Victorian premier has come under scrutiny over the state’s quarantine facilities after private security guards were hired with little training who failed to properly contain the virus.
“There must be political accountability and it starts with the premier,” Mr O’Brien told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
