France aids development in Palestinian Gaza. With a €500,000 initial donation from the French Development Agency, the Palestinian Information Technology Association of Companies (PITA) has launched an internet project, the first of its kind in many years, to encourage greater financial independence in the region. The project known as, "EnTeG" (Enable Technology sector Growth in Gaza), will promote sustainable livelihoods through the creation of software that helps increase the export of computer services and products from Gaza. Meanwhile, in the West Bank, President Mahmoud Abbas presided over a ceremony to celebrate the start of the Ersal Center, a 13-tower project to transform Ramallah, and its sister city Al-Bireh, into an envisioned economic hub.
