Over-rotation creates rounding in your form. You’ll deal with a lot of inconsistencies in your backhand throw if you don’t correct it. Over-rotation is when we forcibly extend our arm out from us and turn our back towards the basket or target with our core.
Yes, rotation is a natural part of the disc golf backhand throw. But, if you can do it properly, you’ll generate more power and a consistent throw.
Start by walking away from the disc. We don’t want to actively push the disc away. Then, we want to push our non-throwing shoulder backwards. This movement simulates the rotation without using the core as the main source of rotation. With just these two adjustments, you’ll get your backhand form in tip top shape.
