Mia Winans at the 2017 IFSA North American Junior Freeride Championships. Hosted by Kirkwood Mountain Resort, CA. These top 175 young athletes from across North America were invited to compete in this event based on their top 2 national or top 2 regional finishes. An unseasonal storm dropped 43" of snow forcing officials to cancel the first three days of competition.  Finally the event was able to run under bluebird conditions on the final day of the schedule.  In an effort to give all competitors one run of competition, two side by side venues were set up for competition.  The 12-14 year old divisions competed on Chicken't Delight on the looker's left side of the Cirque.  The 15-18 divisions competed on Chicken's using a higher start on The Cirque.  The starters, judges and announcers found a seamless rhythm using this break through format that allowed 173 athletes to compete in one day.
