#5. Josh Thomson.
Josh grew up in San Jose, California. He was an MMA pioneer, a well-rounded fighter and one of the front-runners in attracting attention to AKA. Josh began his professional career in 2001 and spent the majority of his professional life learning from Javier Mendez. He has primarily fought in the UFC, PRIDE, Strikeforce and eventually Bellator, where he fought his last MMA fight in 2017. Thomson's professional MMA record is 22-9 (1 NC) and he managed to become Strikeforce U.S. Lightweight Champion in 2006 and Strikeforce World Lightweight Champion in 2008, before later becoming a top contender in the UFC. Nate Diaz, Gilbert Melendez, and Duane Ludwig are just a handful of the competitors who have lost to Thomson.
#4. Josh Koscheck.
Kos hails from Pennsylvania, USA, and was a four-time Division I All-American wrestler, before making his MMA debut in 2004. He fought almost all of his fights in the UFC from 2005-2015 before fighting the last one in Bellator in 2017, compiling a professional MMA record of 17-11. From 2006, Koscheck trained at AKA but left the team in anger in 2012. While Kos and Javier Mendez's professional relationship did not end well, the result of their collaboration paid off for Josh. Over the years, AKA has grown in popularity, but the camaraderie among the fighters training there has always been obvious. Josh may not be the most popular UFC fighter, but the talent he faced in the Octagon deserves to be respected by the MMA community.
#3. Jon Fitch.
Jon is from Indiana, USA. He has primarily competed in WSOF, UFC and Bellator. He has a professional MMA record of 32-8-2 (1 NC) and in 2016 he won the WSOF Welterweight Championship. Although Jon never got the belt in the UFC, he is still one of the most underrated competitors in the UFC's history. Most sports analysts were perplexed by his release. Fitch's departure from the UFC hasn't stopped him from proving his worth, as he's gone 7-3-1 in multiple organizations since then, with Bellator being the most recent. The list of names against whom Jon has fought, demands that fans respect him. After a heel hook loss to Neiman Gracie in 2020, Josh chose to retire.
#2. Islam Makhachev.
Islam grew up in Dagestan, Russia, where he trained, competed, and later became World Champion in Combat Sambo. In 2010, he made his professional MMA debut in Russia and arrived at AKA in 2012 with his childhood friend Khabib Nurmagomedov. Islam is still under Khabib's command, and fans are eager to see if he will be able to meet, if not exceed, the high standard set by The Eagle. Many great fighters are part of the Dagestani invasion at AKA, with Islam being one of the most popular. Makhachev has an almost perfect MMA record with more than 20 victories, proving that he is one of AKA's greatest. When it comes to fight day, all of the hard work pays off.
#1. Frank Shamrock.
Frank was born and raised in California, USA, where he had a tough start in life. He made his MMA debut, when MMA was still a relatively unknown sport, in the Pancrase organization in Japan in 1994, but has also competed in the UFC and Strikeforce among others. Frank is a true MMA pioneer, and has had one of the most interesting and progressive MMA careers in history. Along the way, Shamrock teamed up with Javier Mendez, which was a turning point in the development of AKA. Frank has an MMA record of 23-10-2 and has won numerous titles. Frank Shamrock is widely regarded as one of the greatest, as well as one of the first complete mixed martial artists of all time and has a long list of achievements, including victories over Tito Ortiz, Cesar Gracie, and Bas Rutten.
