Thank you notes get processed differently from every other piece of mail. Emails and texts are deleted and ignored while letters, bills, catalogs, advertisements and magazines are stacked, tossed, shredded, discarded or filed. A personalized note of appreciation however is tacked to the fridge, hung up in our work cubicle, or displayed proudly on the mantle. It's almost as if we want the world to notice our kind deed. When it comes to jotting down a few words of delight, we could all improve a little. The attitude of gratitude is a virtue that will never go out of style.
