Products used:
1. 2 half sheets of 3m Westsand 800 grit paper
2. Harbor freight Bauer multispeed buffer
3. wool buffing pad
4. Super Cut Buffing Coumpound (easily substituted with a gritty compound)
5. small 3m or durablock foam sanding block
6. PATIENCE!!
The process:
-I start off ALWAYS with a clean/debris free surface
-Start by presoaking your wetsand paper 10-15 min
- begin wetsanding process while continuously wetting/dunking your paper into the bucket
KEYPOINT: sand in a cross hatch pattern always
-for this video I wetsanded a 1 sq ft area for approx 5-10 min until uv fading was gone
-clean and dry surface/inspect for missed areas
-begin spreading your buffing compound by hand (gloves recommended)
-work 1-2 sq ft area at a time, starting with a 800-1000 rpm buffer speed, being patient, letting the buffer and compound do its job.
-intermittently check the surface temp with the back of your hand, should be warm to touch, not super hot
-wipe off residue with a clean rag, inspecting the buffed area for sand scratches
-continue the buffing process multiple times until all sand scratches are gone and desired gloss level is achieved
-bada boom bada bing!!!! youve got a kickass, color rich surface!
-apply an automotive type wax to protect from future fading!
