In response to growing pressure from public opinion and the country's political institutions for the resignation of Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina, the country's congress has created a five-member investigative committee. Its task will be to decide whether to strip Perez of his immunity so that he can face impeachment. Perez is accused of heading a high-profile corruption ring involving the country's customs service.
