[ Ссылка ] Reaching a black belt in karate or other martial art is a major accomplishment. It takes dedication and time and a strong effort to achieve, and depending on the art and the school it requires a stretch of time.
How long does it take to reach black belt in karate?
Again it varies in different systems, I know some it takes 7 years, some it takes 2 years some it takes 3 years. In American Kenpo what we look for here is that you master your basics. Because once you get your black belt its like getting a white belt all over again.
Here at my school for the kids program every month you get to test for a stripe and for white, yellow, orange, purple, blue and green you need 3 stripes to get your next belt.
For brown and red it takes 4 stripes. Once you get your red and black belt it takes anywhere from 6-10 stripes to test for your junior black belt.
So if you add all that up it takes about 2.5 to 3 years to get your junior black belt.
As an adult it takes just a little bit longer and again it all depends on how many times you come to class. I know some schools it could take anywhere from 10 - 15 years just to get your black belt.
So it all depends on where you train and who you train with.
