We head off from our glorious camping spot on the northern end of the Tizi n Test. We thoroughly recommend any bikers coming down the Tizi n Test to spend a day or so exploring the area, and go up to the small villages high in the mountains, and get a feel for what it is like to live in those places.
There are places like these, high in the mountains, where humans and nature live in harmony. Nothing is excessive. There is not enough potential, as in, to grow to have too many people, to spoil the landscape. It is very nice seeing villages, and people living a very basic way of life. Just an absolutely amazing experience coming down this route, the Tizi n Test.
Health and safety, would not like to be working a digger above the lower ones. Very little health and safety, I love it. Health and safety takes all the fun out of life, it takes away the risk, we need risks in our lives. In the UK there would be bleddy bollards everywhere, making the place untidy.
Humans remind me of the natural world, especially the plant kingdom. It uses every possible chance of reproducing. Seems like us humans do the same, if there is a tiny plot of land that is usable, we will use it.
Now we are heading towards the old town of Marrakech.
My kids call me the Del Boy of motovlogging. The British viewers will understand what I’am talking about. I’m always getting my words wrong, and using French where I shouldn’t do. For those who don’t know, Del Boy was the main character in the comedy sit com, many years ago in the UK, it was called Only Fools And Horses.
We thoroughly enjoyed the experience to find out what Marrakech was like, especially the souk. Now we are going to join the mad driving experience that you get in Marrakech.
We are now heading back over the High Atlas Mountains towards Ouazazate so we can give our bikes a service.
When we were in Marrakech, in the evening sat on the roof terrace, the call tp prayer which is called a Muezzin, was quite interesting. Obviously we have heard a few call to prayers since being in Morocco, but what fascinated me about this was that, in view, you could see 3 or 4 mosques, and they were not exactly in tune, so it had a lovely echo effect.
We are now heading towards the famous Tizi n Tichka.
Tizi n Tichka was named after the river nearby called Oued Tichka.
The last Barbary Lion, also called the Atlas Lion, or the Berber Lion was shot dead in 1942 here on the Tizzi n Tichka.
Tizi n Tichka goes up to about 2,200m.
The first part of going up was not too bad, but after that, the countryside was not attractive. So, if you want to come this way, and you want a really nice mountain route, choose the Tizi n Test, it is far superior.
For newcomers to the channel, I’am riding a Royal Enfield Himalayan with 2.5 years motorcycling experience. Helene is riding her very first bike, a Sinnis Terrain 125, with only 6 months experience. This is our first motorcycle adventure.
In our series TOTAL BEGINNER TO GREENLANER, we see Helene go from learning to control a bike in a car park, to reaching a fairly decent standard of green laning in the UK, basically off-road but on roads if you catch my drift. All done on road tyres which makes her achievements even greater. Her 17” front wheel does not allow 50/50 tyres, unless you stick a rear on it. And as they are quite wide, we believe sticking with a set of road tyres was best.
Many thanks for watching
Tatty-Bye
