Bò Kho is a Vietnamese Beef Stew. For those who never had this the Flavors are Savory, Tangy, a hint of Sweet, with the Perfect amount of Saltiness. A Very Comforting Delicious Meal 🤤.
The Toasted French Banquettes once dipped into the Stew it Soaks up all the Juicy Goodness. The Bread is so Crispy and Flaky.
Bò Kho Recipe:
2 Lbs of 1/4 inch thick sliced Beef Shank
1 Tsp of Minced Ginger
2 Tbsp of Minced Garlic
2 Tbsp of Minced Shallots
2 Tbsp of Chopped Lemongrass
4 Tbsp of Fish Sauce
1 Tbsp of Chicken Bouillon
1/4 Tsp of Black Pepper
3 Tbsp of Bo Kho Seasoning Mix
5 Tbsp of Tomato Paste
1/4 Cup of Sugar
1 Tbsp of Light Soy Sauce
3 Tbsp of Dark Soy Sauce
1 Can of Coconut Water or Soda
3 Cups of Water
1 Star Anise
1 Cinnamon Stick
1 Cup of Chopped Carrots
3 Pieces of Thinly Sliced Ginger
1 Bruised
*Pressure Cook in Instant Pot for 20 Mins.
- If you don’t have tomato paste. You can use Ketchup as a replacement.
- If you don’t have Bò kho Seasoning you can use Five Spice with Annatto Oil and Paprika.
Instructions:
1. Cut Beef Shanks to 1/4 of inch thick.
2. Season Meat.
3. Marinate for 2-4 Hours or Overnight.
4. On High Heat. Add Oil to Pan.
5. Sauté Aromatics (2-3 Mins).
6. Introduce Meat to Wok or Pan.
7. Sear on Both Side for 2-3 Mins.
8. Transfer to Instant Pot.
9. Add Sugar, Light & Dark Soy Sauce.
10. Add Coconut Water or Coconut Soda.
11. Add Water.
12. Add Star Anise, Cinnamon Stick, and Carrots.
13. Pressure Cook for 20 Mins.
14. Natural Release.
Place Desired Amount in a Bowl. Enjoy with Toasted French Banquettes.
