After making a knife by stock removal, I forged another one from an old file. And I enjoyed it. This is a very interesting process.

First, I heated the file with a torch for the annealing process and let it cool overnight into fine sand. Then I forged the blade and the bevels by hand, quenched it in oil and ground it with my 2x72" to its final shape. When the heat treating was complete and successfull, I started working on the handle.

I used cocobolo for the that. It's a realy hard exotic wood and the grain is beautiful. The pins are 8mm round steel, because as the blade is quite long, I wanted to add a little bit of weight in the handle.

The blade is straight with a slightly dropping point. The balance is perfect for me, and I'm quite happy with out it turned out.
