Another massive winter storm slammed into Northern California, with upwards of 5-6 feet of snow possible in the Cascades and Sierras. At Lassen Volcanic National Park, heavy snow shut the park down as snowplows and snowblowers tried to clear the parking lot to the Kohm Ya-Mah-Nee visitor center for park workers. A Park Ranger advised that she was recording nearly 5 inches-per-hour snowfall rates at times earlier in the day. Coupled with gusty winds, white-out conditions occurred numerous times. Treacherous driving conditions made for difficult to near impossible driving weather on mountain roads and highways.
