TD checking accounts have Standard Overdraft Protection by default for ACH payments, recurring debit card transactions, and personal checks. You cannot opt out of this feature, which includes an overdraft fee of about $35.
You can opt into more advanced overdraft protection options. The Debit Card Advance service applies to ATM and one-time debit card transactions, with an overdraft fee of about $35 per overdraft. The Savings Account Overdraft Protection service transfers funds from your savings account when you have insufficient funds, with no transfer fees.
Here is how you can enroll in an overdraft protection plan:
1. Log in to your TD Bank account through the app or website at tdbank.com
2. Select the ‘Products and Services’ tab at the top of the screen. Go to the ‘Banking’ category and click ‘Overdraft Protection.’
3. Choose the ‘Monthly’ or the Pay As You Go’ plan and click ‘Apply now.’
4. Follow the prompts and click ‘Continue’ to confirm your information and enter your overdraft limit.
5. Click ‘Accept and Submit.’
You can also visit any of their physical branches.
