Recurring sewage spills into the Wilderness Lagoon have residents here up in arms. Whenever power supply to the sewage pump station on the edge of the lagoon is interrupted, raw sewage overflows like a waterfall into the lagoon. The George Municipality has promised to upgrade the control systems, but to date (19 February 2018), nothing has been done.
