Former President Donald Trump is celebrating his Supreme Court 'big win' on presidential immunity while Democrats started melting down.
The conservative 6-3 majority on the Supreme Court ruled a president does have immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts in a monumental decision Monday.
The six-three decision is a major blow to Special Counsel Jack Smith's cases against the ex-president.
'Big win for our constitution and democracy. Proud to be an American!' Trump wrote on Truth Social immediately following release of the Supreme Court decision on Monday.
The majority on the country's highest court ruled the president does have immunity from prosecution for official acts in office. The president does not have immunity for unofficial acts, the majority concluded.
The three liberal justices dissented and raised concerns about what the decision means for democracy arguing the constitution does not 'shield a former President from answering for criminal and treasonous acts.'
The ex-president in a separate Truth Social post said the decision should end all the criminal cases against him including the New York convictions and the civil fraud case.
Trump was joined in his praise of the Supreme Court decision by fellow Republicans who celebrated the court decision on presidential powers.
Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson called the ruling a 'victory for former President Trump and all future presidents and another defeat for President Biden’s weaponized Department of Justice and Jack Smith.'
GOP Senator Roger Marshall wrote on X that the Supreme Court made the right decision.
'We must maintain strong presidential immunity protections to ensure our leaders can make tough decisions without fear of political retribution,' he wrote.
Senator Marsha Blackburn claimed the decision 'rebukes Democrats’ blatant attempts to weaponize our legal system against Donald Trump.'
As Republicans hailed the decision, Democrats started melting down, saying Trump is even 'more unhinged' than ever.
