The instructor demonstrates a chainsaw kickback by directing it horizontally away from himself. Note that he uses only the tip of the saw, but that the saw kicks hard enough to set the brake. These little kickbacks can't be held by a big man; a kickback involving more of the corner of the bar will throw you over, hurt you, or kill you.
