In this video I look at some of the differences and similarities between LANDFIRE's Biophysical Settings and NatureServe's Ecological Systems and Component Associations.
I also explore how NatureServe's Component Association concepts provide us a link between two vegetation classification systems; the International Terrestrial Ecological Systems Classification (used for historical and potential vegetation) and the National Vegetation Classification (used for existing vegetation).
Understanding these differences and similarities will help greatly in understanding what vegetation exists on your site, and what vegetation your site could potentially support.
