Don Iveson served as Edmonton’s 35th Mayor from 2013 to 2021 with a guiding leadership principle to make things better for the next generation. This long-termism is now encoded in Edmonton's City Plan, Council’s Energy Transition Strategy and carbon budget, as well as the ongoing work of End Poverty Edmonton.
During his time with the SofC, Don will work with students, scholars and city society partners at the SofC to build the case for the empowerment of our local governments to take on housing policy and climate change.
Here, Don shares his hopes and knowledge with U of T and SofC, and what motivates his passion for cities. Urban Leaders in the Spotlight is a Q&A series with the visiting urbanism experts and leaders affiliated with the School of Cities.
