Chief Justice John Roberts granted a stay pending further order, asking the administration of President Joe Biden to respond by 5 p.m. Tuesday. Roberts' brief stay order does not discuss the merits of the case. The stay gives the justices enough time to consider the states' appeal, given the looming deadline for Title 42 to end.
