The second Treble inside two years, and one that was won inside just 21 days, was secured in style when 132,870 took in one of the most hyped finals in years as the big two locked horns again. Rangers announced plans of a victory parade at Ibrox but those were put on the back-burner when Billy McNeill scored after only two minutes and scuppered completely when Bobby Lennox, George Connelly and Stevie Chalmers took the scoreline to 4-0. On the way there, the Celts beat Partick Thistle 8-1 after a 3-3 draw, then Clyde 3-0 after a 0-0 draw before beating St Johnstone 3-2 and Morton 4-2. In all, Celtic scored 155 goals in winning all three trophies.
