More than 500,000 people took to the streets of San Juan yesterday in protests (main) against governor Ricardo Rossello and police officers moved in at around 11pm to break up those still in the old city. Officers and protesters could be seen on separate sides of orange plastic barriers (inset) near governor's official residence, a mansion known as The Fortress. During the day demonstrators including singer Ricky Martin and rapper Daddy Yankee filled the city's largest highway and marched in the rain.
