PRESENTED BY ENA-HELENA EVER
Born in Oslo, Norway. Grew up playing football and singing in churches. Left for London, England in 1995, studied at Mountview Theatre School for 3 years. Worked in pubs and toured with "Jesus Christ Superstar", before getting the part of Claude in "Hair", at the Raimund Theatre in Vienna, 2001.
Played in several musicals and plays, before meeting director Barrie Kosky in 2003, and getting the chance to play Nero in Kosky's production of "Poppea" at the Schauspielhaus, Vienna. Met wife Ruth in this production, and performed "Poppea" with the rest of the original cast at the Berliner Ensemble, the Edinburgh International Festival and the Sydney Opera House.
Began writing original music after it became clear that musical theatre was no longer the right path. Started writing songs and slowly building up a home studio whilst babysitting daughter Alina. Worked with the great cellist, Linde Härtel, first on covers of pop songs, then on original material under the name "The K & L orchestra", and released the album "Pling Plong".
Played in the band of Florian Horwath, touring Austria and Germany, most notably supporting Element of Crime on their main tour 2010.
Was given the chance by director Stephanie Mohr to arrange and perform Schubert and Schumann songs at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt for her production of "Die Räuber", which led to writing music for productions at Reichenau Theatre Festival, Vienna's Volkstheater and the Theater in der Josefstadt. Wrote the original music for "Braunschlag", a TV Series produced by Superfilm/Austrian Broadcasting (ORF) after David Schalko and Evi Romen decided to trust the Norwegian.
2508 is his debut solo LP. Recorded alone by Kvam almost completely on just one day, these 11 songs contain all the charm, wit, sorrow and beauty the Norwegian artist has become known for among his loyal fans over the past few years. Deliberately avoiding the use of editing, - voice and piano was recorded in one take, making it almost a live recording, Kvam allows his imperfections to shine -- all except that delicate and powerful voice.
