The Magician Ego Stage 5/6 is the first of the 9 stages of ego development theory where the ego finally sees itself and its cunning ways of making itself seem permanent through theories of life and meaning making. Less than 1% of the population will reach this stage. The Magician's practice of self-observation reaches a level where their own thought patterns and feelings can come and go without identification or attempts to change them. They also no longer have the desire to change others as they did in the Strategist stage. The Magician is the first stage where a freedom is experienced and the plight of the human condition is understood and accepted.
