Remember the nursery rhyme:

So I decided to make a split pea soup. Just make it.
In a medium pot, toss in 1/4 chopped onion, 1 chopped carrot, 4oz quartered small potatoes 1/2 cup yellow peas and 1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic. Next pour in 1 cup chicken stock, 1 cup water with 3/4 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon oregano, 1/8 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Simmer for 6 hours over low heat. Once the soup is done, brown 4oz chorizo. Once the chorizo is cooked add to the soup and serve. I like it with toasted chunk of baguette.
