The lack of diversity in entertainment, media, politics, and the workplace is routinely criticized. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives are on corporate agendas in a whole new way. Why should firms have diversity? As Uzma Khan, Associate Professor of Marketing at the University of Miami, will discuss in her talk, diversity is known to affect the performance of employees, creativity, and culture within an organization. However, little is known about how corporate diversity impacts the judgments, expectations, and behavior of consumers. Professor Khan will share recent findings on how greater observable diversity in a firm affects consumers’ perceptions of, and their reactions to, the firm.
