I know this is not in any way gun related, but I wanted to share.
As I was growing up, in my grandfathers living room was this red guitar. I didn’t really know anything about guitars, and I didn’t know what the markings on the headstock meant. As I grew up, I played other guitars, but I always came back to borrowing my grandfathers, especially when I started playing out. Nothing could equal the sound or playability of it. That guitar was a red Guild D-25Ch that he bought in 1979. He played with that guitar every friday and saturday night from 1979 until around 1990. He played after that too, but not nearly as regularly. It was the first guitar I learned chords on. In 2008, my grandfather had a motorcycle accident which stopped his playing for quite awhile. He began suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia, and he ended up giving me the red Guild. It had developed cracks along the top and I was concerned about the stability of the guitar, but I didn’t have the money to fix it at the time
His red Guild D-25 sat unplayed for nearly 5 years with the strings loosened to prevent further damage. I finally got the money together and had a local luthier brace the cracks and restore it to safe playing condition. I had him leave all the finish wear however. It is something that I treasure, and we recently brought the guitar to my grandfather to show him.
